Builders can charge their users a builder fee (the extra_fee field on orders and quotes) on top of exchange fees. The full builder fee is passed directly to the builder’s Derive Wallet once every four weeks, in addition to any API Broker rewards that the same referral generates. Builder fees are charged on top of standard exchange fees, API Broker fees, and market maker rebates. They do not replace or reduce any of them.

Setup

Register for the API Broker program

Complete the API Broker application form. Registering for the broker program automatically enables the builder fee feature on your account.You will start generating both API Broker fees and builder fees as soon as you begin sending orders with your referral code, even before your application is fully approved.

Set referral_code and extra_fee on orders

Pass your referral code and the fee you want to charge on every order or quote:
  • referral_code is case sensitive.
  • extra_fee must be between 0.000001 and 1,000 USDC.

Where extra_fee is accepted

The extra_fee field is available on every order-writing and RFQ method. You must set both extra_fee and referral_code for the builder fee to be paid.

Viewing your rewards

Both API Broker fees and builder fees are visible on the same dashboard: Extra fees and API Broker rewards are distributed to the Derive Wallet you listed on the API Broker application once every four weeks.
